Client and art director reviewing large-format concept prints on a studio table

Indie game — coastal settlement

A Vancouver Island studio needed twelve environment concepts for a narrative adventure set in a fictional fishing town. We delivered establishing shots, interior tavern studies, and a palette guide referenced by their 3D team through alpha. Two in-person review sessions in our Mount Pleasant space resolved scale questions that screenshots alone could not. The project concluded with a licensed art pack they retained for sequel development.

Magazine — long-form report series

A national publisher commissioned eight editorial illustrations for a quarterly policy report. Each piece required factual sensitivity and consistent figure styling across 40 pages. We supplied CMYK-ready PDFs, web derivatives, and alt-text copy. Turnaround averaged ten business days per illustration after brief approval. The same art director re-engaged us for the following year's edition.

More engagements by sector

Animation pitch bible

A LA-based producer preparing a children's series pitch hired us for character turnarounds and key emotional beats. Deliverables fed directly into their animatic and licensing conversations with broadcast partners. We worked across three time zones with weekly video reviews.

Consumer brand launch

A DTC skincare founder needed campaign moodboards before hiring a photography crew. Our boards defined lighting, casting direction, and packaging context — reducing reshoots after the first production day. The founder later returned for character illustration for a limited retail drop.

Non-profit annual report

An environmental charity replaced stock photography with custom illustration depicting field programmes across three provinces. We documented usage rights for print, PDF, and social crops in a single licence schedule. The art director on their side noted that consistent illustration style improved reader comprehension of complex maps and data callouts.

Process snapshots

Every engagement follows a documented path, even when timelines are compressed. Below is a representative flow for a mid-size concept art package — your project may combine or skip steps depending on scope.

Week 1 — Brief & references

Written brief, reference library, and stakeholder list confirmed. We flag gaps early — missing scale references, unclear audience, or conflicting brand guidelines — before drawing begins.

Week 2–3 — Exploration

Thumbnail grids and colour studies delivered for review. Clients mark favourites directly on shared boards; we consolidate feedback into a single revision brief to avoid contradictory notes.

Week 4+ — Refinement & handoff

Selected directions refined to presentation quality. Final files packaged with licence schedule, layer notes, and optional print proofs for Vancouver clients who collect in studio.
